Australia is one of the world's leading wine producers and exporters. Powered by the FTAs and firm import demand from Asian region, the Australian wine industry has enjoyed a 10% increase in average export price in FY2016. Correspondingly, the Autralian wine industry has also witnessed the highest average grape price since 2009, reaching 526 AUD/tonne.

Based on the wine sector survey released by Winemaker's Federation of Australia, the 2016 red crush is estimated to be 935,466 tonnes, which represent a nearly 10.26% increase compared to 2015 level. Meanwhile, white crush increased by 1.96%, reaching 871,741 tonnes.

China has moved to the top export market for Australia in 2016, which is more than doubed to 474 million AUD, with a surge in demand for premium Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bulk wine exports increased 5% in volume overall, but at prices 16% below 2014. New free trade agreements with China, Japan and Korea are expected to further stimulate bulk wine exports from 2016.
